I always miss this every time they play it on PBS. It usually runs at like 2:00am so I guess that is why having a DVR would be sweet. www.dickproenneke.com has the DVD's for sale but they kind of want an arm and a leg. We have a coupon for one free rental from Video Liar, maybe they have Alone in the Wilderness on laser disc or something weird like that. I just love the matter-of-fact narration from this guy. Also, I think that I secretly want to move to Alaska and build a cabin from scratch. Well, at least move to the woods or something for a while. Jon Krakauer wrote a pretty good few pages about the allure of the Alaskan wilderness in Into the Wild if I remember correctly. Anyhoo, if you like this kind of crap and ever get a chance to watch the above documentary in full, I would recommend it.

I suited up and went for a rain walk a few weeks ago when everything was flooding. It was nostalgic in some weird way. Maybe I walked in the rain a lot when I was a kid. Luckily, I did not fall into any rivers or creeks. Willamette Boat Club (or something) dock to the right there. Maybe they call themselves a yacht club, there are some pretty nifty boats in those docks.

A mid-court meeting at the holy board tournament. This was probably the highlight of the weekend for me. Go team half man, half half-assed man!! I had a bad case of Can't Make Shit during most of the tourney but luckily Brosef has mad athletic skills. Second place wasn't all bad, we still got paid!

Sand castle contest. We were the only "adult" contestants. We were really just there for the s'mores afterwards. Oh yeah, it wasn't really a contest, it was more of a gathering with the promise of s'mores.

April loves orange juice so much that she drinks it two glasses at a time! If you ever get a chance, visit the Cascade Lakes. Some of the best nature I have seen in a while.

Cinco de Mayo?

Ryan and I went to a Cinco de Mayo party and decided to get some fake mustaches. We would have just grown some but unfortunately neither of us are physically able to do so. Ryan went with the classic "black and bushy" and I chose a slightly different approach.

I also brought a jar of Mayo to the party and I don't think that I have ever had a joke fall so flat. They all said "Why would you bring mayonnaise?"

I was pretty pumped when Ryan invited me to a party. I have not been to a traditional college party in quite a while and by his description of the house, I thought that's what we were in for. The house definitely fit the bill and I just kind of figured we were early or somthing. I better quit bitching if I ever want to get invited anywhere again. Here are some positive things about the night: meeting new people, not sitting at home drinking Tecate by myself, getting invited to things, and finding out where to go if I'm ever low on Keystone Light.

Craig and Dana came out to visit this weekend so to show them a good time I thought we could go for a hike out at Smith Rock. Little did they(or I) know, we would end up on a trail called Misery Ridge. For a non-rock climber, this trail leads to the highest point one can hike to at Smith. The "Monkey Face" is a little bit higher than where we ended up, but you have to be a super-pro climber to get there. (I originally meant to type Monkey Face into the title but it somehow came out as Money Face which I thought was kind of funny. I didn't know that it was possible to have dislexia? while typing.)

Also, you may hear of perfect horizons from professional photographers but I believe in 45 degree horizons for two reasons: 1. It makes Craig look like he can defy gravity or something and 2. Check out that sweet right triangle.

April was pretty tired when we finally made it back to the bottom. She thought this mini-cave looked pretty comfortable and decided to give it a try as a bed. I wonder if she is part bat/part human... hu-bat? bat-man? She also loves night time and eating mosquitos. Hmmmm....

I detailed the crap out of my bike this week because I am thinking of selling it. Now that it is all pretty I am having a hard time convincing myself to post an ad.

Roomie had a rough week so I made this for him. Probably not the best way to cope with problems but sometimes a guy just needs a little whiskey. At least it put a smile on his face for a second.

I think that I will be in the Valley on the 27th of this month. I plan on seeing everyone I know and then some so you better watch your back, the Valley.

This is a dance move I am claiming the rights to. It's called the hampster. All you do is show your front teeth like a hampster and act like your scratching for bugs (or whatever hampsters do). It works best on the dance floor but can also be done from a seated position as seen here. Either way, it's obviously a flattering move. I even think that this was the first dance move that I did with April, I wonder what she thought? Probably "wow, this guy dances like a rodent..... I think I'll see him again."

SPRING CLEANING!!!!!

It might be a little early for spring cleaning but we needed it pretty bad. I did the bathroom, the kitchen, and my room. Roomie did the other rooms. Then we kind of teamed up on the rest of the community areas. It was actually kind of fun, we got jacked on coffee and just went for it. Well, I got jacked on coffee, not sure about Roomie.

Anyway, he was cleanin' out his closet and came across all these old bowling shirts. They belonged to Wayne, a long lost great uncle or something. Roomie didn't want them so they now belong to me. If nothing else, they will make for good costume wear, as long as one does not mind dressing up as Wayne. I know I don't.

Is there any other sport besides bowling and NASCAR that you can be directly sponsored by crappy beer? Also, why is Hamms the only beer to ever have a mascot? A sweet bear mascot at that.

You just have to get nutty when your cleaning house sometimes.

Got this hat too. It's right up there with a trucker hat dad used to have that only said "instant suckle" on it. Right to the point. Love it.

Went to class, did some HW, fixed the car, and I started a job at Rite-AIDS. It's kind of weird. I think that I am one of two or possibly three males that work there. [edited] . Oh, I just remembered that I had sushi yesterday. Well, it was called "Ahi sashimi" or something so I'm not sure what category that falls under but it was raw fish with pineapple bits, sesame seeds, delicious sauce, and some other ingredients that I can't seem to remember. I think this is looking off of the "other side" of the mountain. Maybe not, that kind of looks like the South Sister. Anyway, went off of the back side of Bachelor this weekend for a back country adventure. Got a little lost, hit a bunch of virgin snow, and it probably took us about 40+ minutes to reach the bottom. Compared to the average run that never lasts more than 15 minutes, I felt that this was the accomplishment of the day. Yeah, this is looking west(ish) for sure. Thought I had another shot looking the other way, oh well.

Here is that black bear again. he is actually some dog that hangs out downtown I found out. All of the locals know his name but I cant remember it right now. Anyway, this guy just kind of hangs out out side of all of the downtown bars/shops on the weekends. He's super frindly and huge! Not sure if anyone actually owns him or if he just belongs to the city. Those bricks are about 6"x6" if not a little bigger; just so you have a little perspective on how huge he is. It's like he is the dinosaur version of Izzy, kind of like how crocodiles and lizards are in the same family.

This is the chow/something?(sp) that hangs at Reed Pub. He likes to eat peanut shells. Wonder what that does to his insides?

I had to do a little project on my bike today. Well, it seemed little. As I read through the repair manual in the "how to remove the carb." section I noticed that step number 3 was: remove the sub-frame. ~~SH*T!~~ step 4: remove the rear shock. ~~DAMN~~! steps 5-10: remove impossibly small inaccessable screws, cables and hoses. ~~FUC*ING BI*CH!~~ Installation: opposite of steps 1-10. BLARGH!!!!! As you can see, it ended up being quite the project. That thing couldn't have been wedged in there any tighter. THANKS HONDA!! Better than paying a mechanic I guess.

I used to have this job where we built all kinds of structures out of concrete. Sometimes the job seemed like hell on earth but it was usually pretty fun. I also got to work for whom is likely the best small business owner in Salem and a bunch of other great folks (what up dad and BJ?). The ammount of knowledge I gained through this experience could not be taught in any school. Ever. Well I might be exaggerating a little on that one but I do feel like I learned a lot about not only construction but life as well.

Anyway, I started a new part-time job today and it kind of made me reflect on my past employment experience. The world of construction is certainly not as bad as it is sometimes made out to be. I feel privildged to have had this experience.

The school is commonly referred to as "cocc(cock) on the rock". It sits at the bottom of Aubrey Butte. Anyway, there are tons of stairs everywhere. I pretty much get a little workout every time I have school.

Also, tons of skate spots if you gots them kind of skillz. Not really pictured here but just imagine lots of ledges, 4/5/6/7 stairs, hand-rails etc. Basially, nothing I'm capable of but pretty sweet day dream about. THPS2....boo yeah!
